Example: a retail store in Winnipeg
An incorporated retail store in Winnipeg sells $250,000 of goods a year to Manitoba customers.
- It charges 5% GST ($12,500), reported to the CRA, and 7% RST ($17,500), reported to Manitoba Finance — two separate returns.
- The same store in Saskatoon would charge 6% PST ($15,000) and report it to the Saskatchewan Ministry of Finance.
- Profit is taxed at the small business rate, and we help choose the right mix of salary and dividends for the owner.
What we do for this client: monthly bookkeeping, GST and RST returns, payroll and T4/T5 slips, the T2 corporate return and the owner’s personal return.
